Wesley Rondle Strickland Jr

Wesley Rondle "Ronnie" Strickland Jr., 73, of Holly Springs, passed away quietly on November 8, 2022, at Christopher's Personal Care. He was born on October 26, 1949, in Greenwood, MS, to Wesley Strickland Sr. and Louise Blaylock Strickland. Ronnie was retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs, where he served on numerous boards and in many capacities in the care of his church. He was an Army National Guard Veteran, who loved spending time at his barn with his grandchildren and his horses, and he especially looked forward to ridng in area field trials. A 1968 graduate of Holly Springs High School, Ronnie excelled in athletics, especially football and track, and played football at Northwest when he was a student there. He also enjoyed playing golf with close friends.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Irene Wilson Strickland; and his daughter, Cameron Strickland Rhea (Jason), both of Holly Springs. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Marlee Wilson Rhea and Jason Case Rhea. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Ronnie were held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jeff Tollison and the Reverend Doyle Mitchell of McCool, Mississippi officiated. A visitation for family and friends began at the church at 10 a.m., until service time. Burial followed the service in Hill Crest Cemetery. The Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge.

Pallbearers were John David Strickland, Shane Strickland, Phil Boatwright, Eddie Clark Boatwright, Elton Bray and Jonathan Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Toulie Boatwright, John Bobb, Bobby Bonds, Garry Bray, Manny Burch, Johnny Cardwell, Dennis Carlisle, Garrie Colhoun, Ralph Doxey, Steve Farese, Steve Gresham, Guy Hendrix, James Hurdle, Dale Jackson, Bob Lomenick, Ronnie Luther, Bobby McAlexander, CB McClatchy, Mike Power, Sonny Pryor, Tommy Ray, Bert Simpson, Ronnie Shaw, the Honorable Kent Smith, Pat Ellis Stubbs, Ricky Taylor, Doug Teel, Dr Kenneth Williams, and Bob Woods.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 147, Holly Springs, Mississippi. 38635.
