Thelma "Toad Frog" DeBerry

Thelma "Toad Frog" DeBerry, 82, of Byhalia, died Jan. 29, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, on the church deacon board, a member of the Gospel Travelers singing group, and a retired machine operator at Kroger Bakery.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 5 at Union Valley MB Church. Rev. Joe Richmond officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Alfreda Reed DeBerry; seven daughters, Marcy Nevels and JoAnn Jones, both of Holly Springs, Marilyn DeBerry of Calumet City, Ill.; Sheila Winton of Chattanooga, Tenn., Wanda Clark and Sherry Wells, both of Memphis, Tenn., Denise Young of Houston, Texas; seven sons, Monoleato DeBerry of Southaven, Martin Reed, Terry Wells, Reginald Waters, Sidney Waters and Undray Wells, all of Memphis, Tenn., Thelma Tunstall of Byhalia; one sister, Bettie DeBerry of Bronx, New York; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
