Sylvester Murphy Jr.

Sylvester Murphy Jr., 59, of Slayden, died July 30, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He attended Faith Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. in Slayden and was an auto mechanic.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Aug. 5 from 3-5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 6 at Faith Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. Cemetery. Supt. Christopher Griggs will officiate.

He leaves three daughters, Bershawn Robertson of Miami, Fla, Monique McCann of Nashville, Tenn., Victoria Robertson of Holly Springs; five sons, Prince Edwards, Steven Murphy, both of Memphis, DeMario McCann of Slayden, Antonio McCann of Nashville, Hansome Edwards of Ripley; his mother, Margaret Jones Murphy of Slayden; father, Sylvester Tucker of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Joyce Murphy, Mary Gorman, both of Holly Springs, Shirley Hoey of St. Louis; three brothers, Michael Murphy, Wayne Murphy, both of Slayden, Willie Gorman of Memphis; and seven grandchildren.
