Stanley (Stan) J. Watkins

Stanley (Stan) J. Watkins Jr., 47, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Byhalia where he was baptized and made his profession of faith as a young child. The family requests casual attire for the memorial service. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the home of Bill and Lessie Bailey with a fish fry. All family and friends are welcome.

Stan was born January 8, 1971, in Memphis, Tenn., to Joe and Kay Watkins of Red Banks. He graduated from Olive Branch High School and attended Northwest Community College. He was an artist, avid hunter and fisherman. In more recent years he crafted crappie jigs and crank baits and fished crappie tournaments with his son. He was employed with Dex Imaging as a computer technician. Mr. Watkins was an active member of MS River Hunting and Fishing, MAD Crappie Jigs, and Crankin Crappie.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, Katie of Bartlett, Tenn.; son, Joe Watkins of Olive Branch; two daughters, Maggie Watkins of Olive Branch and Mya Rees of Bartlett; mother, Barbara Kay Watkins of Olive Branch; brother, Jack Hoback (Michelle) of Olive Branch; sister, Lessie Hoback Bailey (Bill) of Byhalia; nine nieces and nephews; and close friends, Mark Harris, Jeremy Rice, Rodney Bittle, Adam Calcote, Jason Hagood, and Ricky Jackson.

He is preceded in death by his father, Stanley Joe Watkins Sr.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to an account at Citizens Bank, P.O. Box 667, Byhalia, MS 38611 for his wife and children.
