Shirley L. Black, 88, of Byhalia, formerly of San Diego, Calif., died September 23, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. She was volunteer of Rancho Bernardo American Cancer Society Discovery Shop and founder of the Rancho Bernardo High School Friends of the Library.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 12 at New Mt. Gilliam MB Church. Pastor Raymond Secession and Lady Brenda Secession will officiate. Also services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 2 at Mesa View Baptist Church, 13230 Pomerado Road in Poway, Calif. Pastor Darrow Perkins and Lady Teresa Perkins will officiate. Serenity Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to Rancho Bernardo High School Friends of the Library Scholarship Fund gofund.me/59fba10f.
