Shirley Black

Shirley Black, 80, of Byhalia, died November 2, 2022 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was a member of Hopewell COGIC where she services on the mother's board and later a member of Holy Trinity.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10 at Hopewell COGIC. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her children, Charlene Mays, Earline Summers (Richard), Fannie Coleman (Brandon), Ester Smith, John Henry Smith Jr. (Latoya), Joseph Gordan Smith (Betty Mae), Andrew Smith; a sister, Perrole Rocket (Rev. Charle); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Smith Sr.; brothers, Lee Willie Jefferson, Andrew Jefferson, Charles Black Jr., CL Black; sisters, Betty Williams, Matilda Nevills, Fannie Smith; a grandson, Patrick Smith; granddaughter, Andrea Smith; and one great-grandson, Izayah Mays.
