Sammie Lewis Hoey

Sammie Lewis Hoey, 72, of Holly Springs, died June 20, 2019, at his home. He was a member of Beverly Chapel CME Church and retired from the City of Holly Springs Sanitation Department.

Visitation will be held on June 27 from 1-7 p.m. and with family from 5-7 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home, and 10-10:55 a.m. on June 28 at Beverly Chapel CME Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Rev. Willie E. Hoey will officiate. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden.

He leaves two daughters, Mary Ann Hoey-Arouna and Evelyn Tenna Hoey, both of Germantown, Maryland; three sons, Michael Anthony Hoey and Lonnie Charles Hoey, both of Holly Springs, Paris Scruggs of Horn Lake; three sisters, Verleese Hoey and Josie Brown, both of Holly Springs, Edna Hoey of Aurora, Ill.; four brothers, Willie Hue Hoey, Charles Hoey and Joe Cecil Hoey, all of Holly Springs, Eddie Hoey of Aurora; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Machell Kay Hoey; two sisters, Minnie Hoey Barksdale and Emma Hoey; and a brother, James Hoey.
