Ruthie Mae Hughes Shelton

Ruthie Mae Hughes Shelton, 86, of Holly Springs, died April 28, 2018, at her home. The widow of Tillman S. Shelton Sr., she was a retired factory worker at Sunbeam Inc. and a member of her church’s Mother Board.

Visitation will be held May 4, from 2-7 p.m. and with family from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home, and on May 5 from 10-10:55 a.m. at the church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on May 5 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Kimbrough will officiate. J.F. Britten and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves six daughters, Lolar S. Beard, Eva Jackson, Willie Ann Shelton, Marjorie Sise, Shelia Shelton, all of Holly Springs, Lurlean Shelton of Spring, Texas; three sons, Tillman Shelton Jr. of North Aurora, Ill., Isaac Shelton of Holly Springs, Ollie Shelton of Olive Branch; four sisters, Vera Stockard of Memphis, Tenn., Shirley Newson, Barbara Robinson, Vivian Robinson, all of Chicago, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Shelton.
