Russell Lyles Johnson

Russell Lyles Johnson, 77, of Holly Springs, died June 1, 2022, at home. He was a member of Anderson Chapel CME Church where he served as a recording steward. He was chairman of the Historical Preservation Society, Marshall County IDA Board member and Habitat for Humanity board member. He was a retired teacher and coach with the Holly Springs School District.

Services were held at 1 p.m. On June 8 at the Eddie L. Smith Multi-Purpose Building. Rev. Johnny Poole officiated. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Johnnie R. Anderson Johnson; daughters, Marchetta J. Kimmons of Atlanta, Ga., Jametra Bagley of Holly Springs; sons, Anthony Johnson of Holly Springs, Gregory Bagley II of Tupelo; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary M. Johnson Scales, brothers, Thaddeus L. “Billy” Johnson, and Robert Harold Johnson.
