Ronald Lynn Day

Ronald Lynn Day, born December 5, 1959, passed away on January 25, 2018, at 58 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Tammy; a daughter, Jessica; a son, Dillon; a grandson, Kellyn; and a sister, Sandra Fitch; along with a multitude of friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Doris Day.

Ronnie truly lived life to the fullest, and he treasured spending time with those he loved. Whether it was coaching his children in T-ball, teaching Jessica how to drive a stick shift in his old Suzuki, passing on his love for photography to Dillon, or dressing up as the Cat in the Hat for Kellyn’s class at school, Ronnie was the epitome of a family man. To his friends, he was reliable and willing to help anyone at any time.

In life Ronnie wore many hats and was known by different names to those he touched. To his friends at Plaskolite where he worked for over 20 years as a master electrician and maintenance supervisor, he was known as Ron. To those he served with as an auxiliary deputy, he was called Deputy Day.  To those whose memories he preserved, he was referred to as their photographer. To his friends in The Grove from Saturdays in the fall, he was known as Officer Day, Ronnie, or Uncle Ronnie. To his closest friends, he was Moondog. To his family, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin.

Funeral services were held on January 28, 2018, at Salem Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. followed by the service at 3. Pallbearers were Christopher Huey, Phillip Lemons, Tim Noe, Kevin Poole, John Austin Valentine, and Brett Whaley. Honorary pallbearers were Kellyn Day and Adam Gaddy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Ronnie to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, the Day family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses with HomeCare Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.

All who met Ronnie met a friend. He lived a full and happy life wherein he was blessed to have been cherished by many loving friends and family. He will be truly missed.
