Robert Lee “Sonny” Carter

Robert Lee “Sonny” Carter, 86, of Florence, Ala., formerly of Holly Springs, died Feb. 24, 2018. He served in the Korean War in a SCARWAF Unit, a branch of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Independent Life for 34 years. He was president of the Russellville Bass Club, North Alabama CLNR and the Tennessee River Bass Club.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Central Baptist Church in Florence. Burial was in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Bro. Tommy Ferguson officiated. Spry-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Mary Lee Carter; a daughter, Cheryl Carter; a son, Lee Carter (Mary); two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Lynn Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church of Florence.
