Rhea Moore Malone

Rhea Moore Malone, 93, lovingly known as "Nonie," passed peacefully away at her home in Byhalia, Mississippi, on Friday, December 10, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 14, 1928, in Tishomingo County, to Jim Moore and Sarah Maudie Tipton Moore. Mrs. Malone was a homemaker.

Mrs. Malone is survived by her husband of 72 years, Leamon E. Malone; a daughter, Julia DeBardeleben (Rick); and a son, Phil Malone (Donna). She also leaves five grandchildren, Mandy Malone Black (Jason), Alex DeBardeleben (Mary Katherine), Molly Malone Gates (Casey), Phillip DeBardeleben (Kassitee), and Miles DeBardeleben (Tori); and nine precious greatgrandchildren. Nonie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Moore and Sarah Maudie Moore; three brothers, three sisters, and her very dear friend, Mrs. Cecil Fuller.

Nonie was a member of Byhalia United Methodist Church. She faithfully attended the Fellow Workers Sunday School Class and served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, and got much joy out of serving meals to the Byhalia Loins Club with other UMW friends. Nonie was a member of the Byhalia Garden Club and loved vegetable gardening.

Mrs. Malone was an avid sports fan, and she and Mr. Malone enjoyed many hours together, watching Mississippi State play football and basketball on television. Mostly, Nonie lived a very simple life, and she loved nothing more than her family gathering in her kitchen, around her table, enjoying her delicious home cooking.

Nonie was so grateful and her family so moved, by the loving care given to her during her last days by Mae Tunstall (Minnie) and Spring Valley Hospice.

A visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, in the Sanctuary of Byhalia United Methodist Church, with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
