Rev. Clara Carruthers Love

Rev. Clara Carruthers Love, 92, of Olive Branch, died March 15, 2018. The widow of Marvin Love, she was a Methodist minister, serving numerous churches. She was the first African-American teacher at ICS Head Start in Hudsonville/Slayden, a member of the Eastern Star and an usher at her home church, Stinson Chapel CME Church in Rossville, Tenn.

Services were held at New Stinson Community Church in Rossville with burial in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. Bishop Earnest Jordan officiated. Serenity- Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves daughters, Louise Wright (James) of Olive Branch, Rev. Gloria Moore Woods (Eddie) of Memphis, Tenn., Betty Jordan of Olive Branch; four sons, Sammy Moore, Kenny (Marcia) of Red Banks, Phillip Moore (Beverly) of Memphis, Emmitt Woodson of Red Banks; 35 grandchildren, 60 greatgrandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Elizabeth Moore Franklin; children, Barbara Moore Smith, Delores Moore Bogard and Laroy Moore Lewis and two grandchildren, April Smith and Travis Clarrett.
