Rev. Bettye Jean Clifton

Rev. Bettye Jean Clifton, 78, of Oxford, died June 5, 2026. She was a member ofToby Tubby Missionary Baptist Church, pastor of Shiloh CME Church, Duff Chapel CME Church, Trinity CME Church and Naylor Chapel CME Church. Services were held at Smith Chapel CME Church on June 11 at 2 p.m. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her sisters, Tressie (Greg) of Oxford, Charlotte (Deshaun) of Clinton, MD; brothers, Frankie Johnson of Oxford, Randolph Johnson (Katie) of McDonough, Ga., and Bobby Johnson (Carrin) of Holly Springs. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Milton Johnson, Haywood Johnson, Shirley Blackmon; and sister, Lela Mae Johnson.
