Reflection of Life
Annie Catherine Gladney Stanback was born on May 3, 1948, in Eupora, Mississippi, to the late John Lee Gladney and Nunie Mae Robinson Gladney. She was the eleventh child of thirteen children and was full of life since that day. Ann’s extraordinary earthly journey came to an end on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Ann confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Bernie, Missouri, where her spiritual growth took root. She graduated from Bernie High School. In 1989, she was joined in holy matrimony to Eliehue Stanback Jr. This connection of love led her to join Grace Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant. She used her God-given gifts to teach young children (Class #1) and serve as the assistant director of the Angel Choir. Ann joined the mass choir where she held the role of vice-president.
Ann passes the torch of life to her loving husband, Eliehue Stanback Jr.; one son, Kevin C. (Valencia) Towns (Atlanta, GA); one daughter, Jamella Young (Memphis, TN); one stepdaughter, Lolita S. Tucker; one stepson, Rodney Stanback; two sisters, Willistine Sandridge-Jones, Pernell DeLoach, both of Sacramento, CA, Mary Nell (St. Louis, MO); two brothers, John Lloyd (Dee) Gladney and Jessie Gladney, both of Houston TX; two brother-in-laws, William Earl (Jeanette) Stanback (Memphis, TN), Anthony (Jane) Stanback (Cincinnati, OH); four sisterin- laws, Delores Ann Parker (Folsom, CA), Alice M. Stanback (Memphis, TN), Gwendolyn Moore (Franklin, TN), Sandra Perkins (Cincinnati, OH); eight grandchildren, Cordell Poscoe, Brittney Towns, Rodney Stanback Jr., Jordan Holmes, Daris Scott, Davayon Stanback, Alaina Towns, Standrea Stanback, all of Memphis; Righteous Hawkins (Greenville, MS); a host of close knitted nieces, nephews, cousins, and special girlfriends, Darlean Cunningham (Cincinnati, OH), Al Marie Jones, Nancy Nash, both of Memphis, TN, and Ruby Liggins (Atlanta, GA).
Ann was preceded in death by her grandson, Marcel Stanback; four sisters, Mae Lee Gladney McQuerter, A Lee Gladney, Jewelean Gladney Aldridge, Lucy Jane Gladney Henry; three brothers, Tommy Lee Gladney, Theodis Gladney and Floyd Gladney.
Visitation will be held on March 24 from 4-6 p.m. at Gillelspie Funeral Home, 9179 Pidgeon Roost Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654. Viewing will be held on March 25 from 11-11:55 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 1203 N. Manassas, Memphis, Tenn., with services at 12 p.m. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery, but date is yet to be determined.
