Oscar “Nip” Bowen

Oscar “Nip” Bowen, 91, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 31, 2016, at North Delta Hospice in Southaven. A retired laborer at Holly Springs Brick and Tile, he was a member of the church steward board.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. and with family from 6-7 on Jan. 6 at the funeral home and at the church on Jan. 7 from 10-10:55.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 7 at Adolphus Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Billy Williams, pastor, will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Lizzie L. Campbell Bowen; three daughters, Velma Pegues of Kansas City, Kan., Gloria Jean Phillips of Holly Springs, Shirley Denise Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; five sons, Oscar Bowen Jr., Terry Bowen, Albert Bowen, James Edward Bowen, all of Holly Springs, and David Wayne Bowen Sr. of Waterford; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey “Boo-Boo” Bowen.
