Norvin Earl Forester Jr.

Norvin Earl Forester Jr., 76, of Rockingham, N.C., died August 9, 2019. He earned his Master's degree in Religious Education and served 44 years in the ministry in seven different states with the last of those 20 years as a pastor. He served on the Southern Baptist Convention Committee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockingham where he also served as a deacon.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on August 13 at the First Baptist Church of Rockingham. A private interment will be held at a later date in the McDonald Baptist Church Cemetery. Richard Boles Funeral Service in Laurinburg, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Mary Ellen Nichols Forester; sons, Norvin "Laird" Forester (Amy) of Rockingham, Rev. Jamie Forester (Tracy) of Savannah, Tenn., Richard Randolph "Randy" Forester (Amanda) of Lumberton, N.C.; a sister, Dorothy Ann Forester Criddle (James) of New Albany; and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given in his memory to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church of Rockingham, 210 North Randolph Street, Rockingham, N.C. 28379.
