Norman Dale Hurdle

Norman Dale Hurdle, 78, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 15, 2022, at his childhood home in Slayden, MS surrounded by his family and loving wife of 56 years, Delia Hurdle.

Norman was a proud graduate of the University of Mississippi where he obtained a degree in accounting and was a lifelong fan of everything Ole Miss. After graduation, Norman left his home in Slayden and began his professional career as a Captain in the United States Air force stationed at Wright-Patterson Air force Base, Ohio. Throughout his career as a Certified Public Accountant, Norman held various corporate positions within the healthcare industry including Chief Financial Officer before retirement.

Norman was a meticulous, ambitious, and reserved man who approached life with humility, always planning for his family's future. Above all, Norman was a protector and provider to his family. Norman's family remember him as the best dad anyone could ever have who had a commanding presence and a heart of gold; someone who spoke softly yet his voice filled the room.

Basketball, food, and the occasional cigar were his favorite pastimes however all the way to the end of his life, the two that brought him most satisfaction were spending time with his family and returning to the "Home Place" in Slayden, MS.

Norman is preceded in death by his father, Harold Cornell Hurdle and mother, Erma Ruth Hurdle both of Slayden, MS; and survived by his wife, Delia Hurdle; daughters, Robin Hurdle-Martin and Kelly Hurdle; sister, Nancy Carol Burchett; brother, Stanley Hurdle; son-in law, Randy Martin; and grandchildren, Jacob Wolfe Martin, Conner Martin, Cooper Martin, and Addison Belle Martin.

A memorial service will be held at Slayden Baptist Church in Slayden, MS on Saturday December 3, 2022 at 2 p.m.
