Maxine Word Adkins

Maxine Word Adkins, 85, of Holly Springs, died May 19, 2022, at her home. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, lifetime NAACP member, member of Heroines of Jericho Waterford Lodge. She was a retail clothing business owner.

The family will hold a private celebration of life service at a later date. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leave her husband, Bobby Joe Adkins; daughters, Pauline Elizabeth Adkins Jeffries of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Sylvia Maxine Adkins of Olive Branch, Charlotte Adele Adkins of Holly Springs, Sonya Joy Adkins of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sons, Bobby Joe Adkins II of Madison, Ala., John Eldridge Adkins of Olive Branch, Gerald Christopher Adkins of Holly Springs; sister, Ruth Cullens of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Augusta Pauline Jackson.
