Mattie Laura Shaw Mitchell

Mattie Laura Shaw Mitchell, 94, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 25, 2019, at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. The widow of Willie Alfred Mitchell, she was a member of Mt. Peel MB Church where she served on the Mother Board and as a church usher. She was a homemaker.

Visitation will be held on Jan. 3 from 2-6 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home; and on Jan. 4, from 10-10:55 a.m. at Mt. Peel MB Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Rev. Willie Hoey will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She leaves three daughters, Queen Jeffries and Arsenia Mitchell, both of Memphis, Tenn., Delenda Lawrence of Hickory Flat; three sons, Steve Mitchell of Memphis, Marshall Mitchell of Holly Springs, Sylvester Mitchell of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Lula Mae Ingram of Calif.; one brother, Bishop Thomas Rogers of Memphis; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Will "Fox" Mitchell and John "Whoop" Mitchell.
