Mary Jo Whaley

Mary Jo (Hollida) Whaley, 86, of Potts Camp, died Saturday, January 5, 2019, in Holly Springs. She was born June 11, 1932, in Potts Camp to William Adolphus Hollida and Addie Lee (Cox) Hollida. She was a 1950 graduate of Potts Camp School, where she was named valedictorian of her class and served as a true friend to all. She married Fred Kyle Whaley in April, 1949 and became a devoted homemaker.

Visitation was held at Holly Springs Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, at Holly Springs Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Wilson officiated. Burial was Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery in Potts Camp.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred K. Whaley. Survivors include two sons, Rodney L. Whaley (Betty) and Brett C. Whaley (Michelle), both of Potts Camp; grandchildren, Amanda Whaley Smith (Kent), Stacy Whaley Morrisson (Jonathan), Lori Whaley Shaw (Kevin), Neil Whaley (Leslee), Makenzee Whaley, Jessica Ash Greer (Michael), Justin Ash and Jordan Ash (Jessica); and great-grandchildren, Jack Whaley Smith, Brennan Smith, Jon Grey Morrisson, Natalie Morrisson, Saxon Ballard, Mary Neilee Whaley, Avery Grace Shaw, Mary Claire Shaw, Addie Shaw, Vivi Kyle Shaw, Kate Russell Shaw, Eli Ash, Cohen Ash, and Megan Greer.
