Mary Ella Woods Gilbert

Mary Ella Woods Gilbert, age 88, of Goodlettsville, TN, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 30, 2022, in her home with family. She was an amazing woman of faith whose strength and hope came from her personal relationship with Christ. Her beautiful smile and her love for others, especially her family and friends, were her great gifts that will always be remembered. She was an involved member for many years with the Parkway Quilters and Hendersonville Lakeshore Quilt Guild. She was very active and was an excellent seamstress, quilter, cook and hostess for her family and friend gatherings. She will always be an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was born, October 4, 1934, and raised in Holly Springs, MS by the late V. Howard Woods and Nellie Ola Thompson Woods. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert "Bob" Gilbert; brothers, Lloyd Woods and Prentis Woods; and sister, Vernelle Winter.

Mary Ella is survived by her children, Charles "Chip" Stockard (Pamela), Jennifer Stockard, and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Kearney (Mike); she was also honored to be a mother to Bob's children, Don Gilbert (Sandra), Scott Gilbert (Beth), Patrick Gilbert (Brian), Nancy Mabry (Mike); and Doug Gilbert (Beverly), deceased.

She was honored to be "Mamaw" to her grandchildren; Chase, Payne, T.J., Prentis, Jackson, Ellie, Sarah, Grace; and honorary grandchildren; Meg, Sam, Seth, Adam, Teesa, and Jennifer, Joanna, and Jessi along with eighteen great grandchildren. In addition, she leaves behind her Holly Springs, MS family and friends; brother-in-law, Tommy Winter, niece, Prentis Boatwright (Phil), nephew, Howard Winter (Mandy) and their children.

A celebration of life was held Wednesday, January 4th, at 1:30 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN with Pastor Ken Castleberry and Pastor Matt Megginson officiating and where she was an active member for over 40 years. Burial followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Tuesday, January 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at Cole and Garrett in Goodlettsville and on Wednesday before service at church from 12-1:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkway Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN.
