Mary Elizza Smith-Martin

Mary Elizza Smith-Martin, 78, of Byhalia, died November 18, 2025, at her home. She was a member of Mt. Newell MB Church where she served on the mother and usher board. She was retired from Cartwright Nursery in Collierville, Tenn.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Mt. Newell MB Church in Red Banks. Rev. LaDaryl Odum officiated. Burial was in Mt. Newell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husand, Geogre Martin; daughter, Carol Miller of Olive Branch; son, Christopher Smith of Byhalia; sisters, Maudie Riley, Dorothy Smith, both of Byhalia; brothers, Lee Russell Smith of Byhalia, Albert Smith of Potts Camp; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Martin; siblings, Beverly Ann Bennem, Jessie Lenora Bennem, Hattie Smith, Frank Smith and J.D. Smith.
