Martha Beatrice Sims Jones

Martha Beatrice Sims Jones, 97, of Holly Springs, died February 27, 2023, at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital. She was a member of Yarbrough Chapel CME Church where she served as a church stewardess, usher and in the church choir and missionary. She was a secretary at ICS Headstart.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 6 at Yarbrough Chapel CME Church. Pastor Tony Wilkins officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her daughters, Vadis Jones Lee, Bonita Jones Porter, both of Holly Springs, Sylvia Jones of Killeen, Texas, Cinder Jones of Memphis, Tenn., Bridgett Gill of Killeen, Texas; sons, Lawrence Jones, John H. Jones, both of Detroit, Mich., Ira Wallace Jones of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Willie C. Jones Jr. of Holly Springs; brother, Robert Lee Sims of Holly Springs; 38 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Carter Jones Sr.; children, Gloria Jean Jones Gipson, Shirley Jones Powell; siblings, Ola Mae Sims-Wolfe, John David Sims Jr., Cinderella Sims Taylor, J.B. Sims, Adolphus Sims, Josie Lee Sims Freeman and Lee Ester Sims.
