Martavis "Diggy" Smith

Martavis "Diggy" Smith, 16, of Red Banks, died Oct. 27, 2019. He was a member of Berachah Church of God in Christ in Red Banks and a 10th grade student at H.W. Byers High School, where he played football, baseball, basketball, ran track and played drums.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3, at H.W. Byers High School gymnasium. Pastor LaDaryl Odum officiated. Burial was in Berachah Church of God in Christ in Red Banks. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his adopted mother, Sellestine Cole (Tony) of Red Banks; his father, Bobby Wells of Nashville, Tenn.; five brothers, Tyler Smith of Red Banks, Elijah Harding and Terrell Smith, both of Memphis, Tenn., Contrell Smith of Southaven, Fredarrius Smith; two sisters, Dabria Harding of Memphis, Amelia Crigger of Nashville; two grandfathers, Edison Norfleet (Mary) of Memphis, Bobby Moore (Mamie) of Red Banks; and his godmother, Wendy Crutcher of Southaven.

He was preceded in death by his mother, April Smith; two grandmothers, Barbara Smith, Bertha Wells; and a great-grandmother, Rev. Clara Love.
