Mae Louis Scales Henley

Mae Louis Scales Henley, 84, of  Holly Springs, died Dec. 17, 2017, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. The widow of William H. Henley Sr., she was a church usher, in the church choir, a Boy Scout troop leader, a member of the M&M Social Club, and a retired teacher at H.W. Byers High School.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Dec. 22 from 2-7 p.m. and with the family from 6-7 p.m. and at the church, Dec. 23 from 9-9:55 a.m.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 23 at Anderson Chapel CME Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. William S. Banks will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, William Henley Jr. of Holly Springs; two daughters, Rev. Dr. Calverta McMorris of Memphis, Myrtis Henley-Beal of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Celestine Royston of Potts Camp, Oweda Higgenbottom of Looxahoma; 13 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and two great--great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Detrice D. Trice, and brothers, Roy Scales, James Scales, and Julius Cesar Scales.
