Mae Lidy Buggs Nelson

Mae Lidy Buggs Nelson, 82, of Michigan City, died March 28, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a member of Hardaway MB Church and retired from congressional services for the Federal Government in Washington, DC.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on April 15 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and on April 16 at Hardaway MB Church from 12-12:55 p.m. with services at 1 p.m. Elder Johnnie E. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She leaves a daughter, Johnnie Mae Nelson of Albuquerque; sisters, Floyce Hunt, Loyce Scott, VaLandy Poplar all of Michigan City, Annie Mae Jackson of Grand Junction, Tenn., Rosie Mae Rucker of Michigan City; brothers, L.J. Buggs, Jasper Buggs Sr., Troy Buggs, Danny Lee Buggs, Charles Buggs, all of Michigan City; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Nelson; brothers, E.L. Buggs and Rickey Lee Buggs.
