Lula Marie Peeler Burton

Lula Marie Peeler Burton, 87, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 9, 2016, at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. The widow of Douglas Burton Sr., she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Retired Teachers Association, a lifetime member of the NAACP and a former church usher. She was a retired school teacher in the Holly Springs School District.

Visitation will be Dec. 14 from 1-5:30 p.m. and on Dec. 15 from 10-10:55 a.m.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at Anderson Chapel CME Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Edwin Burton of Holly Springs; a grandson, Dwayne Burton and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Burton Jr. and her sister, Dorothy Peeler Isom.
