Lula Gulledge Dukes

Lula Gulledge Dukes, 90, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 21, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford. The widow of Spurgeon Dukes, she was a member of Providence MB Church where she was on the mother's board and sang in the church choir. She was a homemaker.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 29 at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries. Pastor Actavatis Allen officiated. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves four children, David Dukes, Sharon Allen, Patricia White, all of Holly Springs, Eva Dukes of Southfield, Mich.; one brother, Nathaniel Burks of Memphis, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three children, Lela Ann Wilkins, Varrie Arrington, Larry Dukes; four brothers and five sisters, Henry Gulledge, Sylvester Gulledge Jr., David Gulledge, Albert Gulledge, Effie Humphrey, Ada Nevels, Olivia Walker, Lorene Jones, and Georgia Newson.
