Luberta Elliott Smith

Luberta Elliott Smith, 84, of Holly Springs, died April 29, 2019, at Christopher's Personal Care Home in Holly Springs. The widow of Mayor Eddie Lee Smith Jr., she was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a musician for over 60 years. Smith was a tour leader for Rust College A'Capella Choir, assisting Natalie Doxey. She attended Rust College, was a graduate of the University of North Dakota, the first lady of Holly Springs, 1989-2001, recorded a music CD in 2003, and traveled abroad for the first time in 2005. She was a retired educator from the Marshall County School System.

Visitation will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church from 5-8 p.m. on May 3 and on May 4 from 2-2:55 p.m. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Rev. Zachery Beasley will officiate. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three children, Edwin Bernard Smith of Oxford, Carlton Elliott Smith of Holly Springs, Lee Eric Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Sandra Simpson of Memphis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church.
