Lovie Jean Briggs

Lovie Jean Briggs, 69, of Lamar, died July 20, 2018, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was employed at Sunbeam Manufacturing in Holly Springs and was a homemaker. She was a member of Williams Temple COGIC in Moscow, Tenn.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 28 at Concord MB Church in Slayden with burial in Williams Temple COGIC cemetery. Supt. Robert Williams officiated. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves six children, Vernon Briggs (Teresa) of Byhalia, her caregiver Carol Childs (Tyrone) of Orlando, Fla., James Jones (Patricia) of Covington, Tenn., Angela Jones of Lamar, Carl Jones of Slayden; her mother, Willie Alberta Briggs of Memphis, Tenn.; seven brothers, Bishop Ervin Briggs (Joyce), Anthony Briggs (Rezshon) both of Memphis, Tenn.,  Stanley Briggs of North Carolina, Herbert Briggs (Mary) of Augusta, Ga., Michael Howery (Rhonda), Donald Howery (Yvonne) and Milton Howery  Jr. (Dorothy), all of Memphis; five sisters, Leatrice, Ethel, Gloria, Kathleen Briggs and Sandra Johnson, all of Memphis; 16 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Jenkins, three brothers, Oscar Lee Briggs, Collin Briggs, Larry Howery;  and a sister, Brenda Cannon.
