Lire Walls

Lire Walls, 91, of Byhalia, died December 29, 2023 at his home in the Cayce community. He was a member of Mt. Zion Taska MB Church, an ordained minister and church deacon. He worked for Hart's Manufacturing in Collierville, Tenn.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 6 at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church. Pastor Anthony Bramlett officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Edna M. Walls of Byhalia; sons, Larry Walls, Robert Walls, both of Byhalia; sisters, Lemon Boyd of Memphis, Tenn., Lillie Mae Gilliam of Somerville, Tenn., Margaret Stout of Memphis; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Martin Walls; children, James Walls, Herbert Walls; siblings, Mattie Taylor, Flora Stinnett, J.W. Walls, Ludie Walls, Maggie Boyd, Al Walls Jr., Edward Walls, Mary Lee Thomas and Conny Walls.
