Linda Frances Jones

Linda Frances Jones, age 71, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in her home in Laws Hill, Miss. Linda was born on August 12, 1953, in Memphis, Tenn., to Bill and Thelma Duke. She married the love of her life, Doyle Clifford “Butch” Jones, on April 24, 1970. The couple began their life together in Memphis before settling in their forever home in Laws Hill.

Linda began working at The South Reporter in 1986 and retired in 2019. She “brought joy to her coworkers with her humor and dedication.”

Later in life, Linda cherished her role as a grandmother. She loved quilting, taking road trips where she somehow always got lost, burning spaghetti, and chasing chickens out of her carport. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her son, Kris.

Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Butch; her parents, Bill and Thelma Duke; her brother, Danny Duke; and her sisters, Peggy Bennett and Jackie Presson.

Linda is survived by her children, Kristian and Dana Jones; her brother, Dennis Duke; her grandchildren, Merideth Chalk (Tim), Remy Young (Mitchell), and Grace Dunlap; and her great-grandchildren, Shepard, Ruby June, and Link.

A visitation and graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Free Springs United Methodist Church in Harmontown, Miss. paid obituary
