Leon Lewis

Leon Lewis, age 85 of Holly Springs, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee and Minneapolis, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Aug. 12 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

He was a retired security officer for Imperial Security, veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, where he was a Sunday School teacher.

Services will be Friday, Aug. 28, 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, 210 West Park Avenue in Holly Springs, with Bishop Albert Pass. Burial will be at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 4000 Forest Hill Road. Visitation will be at the J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 2:30-5:30 p.m., and at the church on Friday, Aug. 28 from 9:30-10:25 a.m.

He leaves his wife Gwendolyn D. Barrett-Lewis of Holly Springs; daughters Ahlaiah Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia, Constance Lewis and Marva Rae Lewis, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Larry Ray G-Lewis of Minneapolis, Minnesota; stepchildren Arigs Barrett-Williams and Antonio Lewis, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Andre Barrett of Millington, Tennessee, and Angelo Barrett of Cross Plains, Tennessee; sister Bernidine Valentine of Spring Hill, Florida; brothers Maurice Dawson of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael Dawson of Columbus, Ohio, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Lewis Sr. and Rozella Walker Lewis; sister Mary Jane Lewis, and brother Vernon Dawson.
