Lenzie Lawrence Boga

Lenzie Lawrence Boga, 87, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 2, 2017, at Holly Springs Health and Rehab Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran, guitar player for Palastine MB Church and a former member of Greenwood MB Church. He was a retired laborer at Ford Motor Company in New York. He also played guitar with several blues bands, with Junior Kimbrough and Joe Ayers.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Craig Fields officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves two children, Denice Boga Johnson, Ison Boga, both of New York; a sister, Deloris White of Tupelo; a brother, Clyde Boga of Holly Springs; and nieces who were his caregivers, Nela Perdue of Holly Springs, Sherrie Fields of Belden, Josephine Watkins and Monica Perdue, both of Memphis, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by a sibling, Thelmon Boga.
