Lee Etta DeBerry Smith

Lee Etta DeBerry Smith, 84, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died September 30, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Gethsemane COGIC where she served on the mother's board, sang in the choir, served as usher and church clerk. She was a former member of Hopewell No. 1 MB Church. She was a retired teacher from the Tunica County School District.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Oct. 10 from 3:30-5 p.m. and on Oct. 11 at Hopewell No. 1 MB Church from 11-11:55 a.m. with services at 12 noon. Rev. Andre DeBerry will officiate. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden.

She leaves her daughters, Tiffany Reed, Shonda Lott, both of Memphis; sisters, Elnora D. McKennley of Memphis, Doris Waller of Holly Springs, Mary Beard of Potts Camp; brothers, Melvin DeBerry of Holly Springs, Roy DeBerry Jr. of Oxford, Willie DeBerry of Irving, Texas, Andre DeBerry of Holly Springs, Ronald DeBerry of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Barry Connell DeBerry, Gregory Maurice DeBerry; and sister, Alberta Griffin.
