Laverne Gatewood

Laverne Gatewood, 73, of Holly Springs, died August 29, 2025, at her home. She was a member of Hudsonville CME Church where she served as a church steward, usher board and kitchen committee. She was a member of Zeta Amicae and a cook at Starlite.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Sept. 6 from 3:30-6 p.m. and on Sept. 7 at Hudsonville CME Church from 10-10:55 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Elder Bobby G. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She leaves a daughter, Dr. Neffie Gatewood-Alimayu of Houston, Texas; sisters, Maxine Gatewood, Bobbie Parish, Lenora Mason, all of Holly Springs, Jessie Green of Southaven; brothers, Matthew Gatewood Jr. of Waterford and Lawrence Gatewood of Holly Springs.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Earnest Gatewood, Nellie LeSueur, Mary E. Gatewood and Annie Mitchell.
