Judge Ernest Cunningham

Judge Ernest Cunningham, 67, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 23, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford. He was a member of New Hope CME Church in Holly Springs where he served on the Steward Board, as Sunday School superintendent, and was a church trustee. He was a graduate of Northwest Community College, served as Marshall County Sheriff for four years, and Justice Court Judge for over 30 years and until the time of his death. He served as president of the Mississippi Justice Court Judge Association.

Visitation will be held on Nov. 1, from 1-4 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home; and from 5-7 p.m. with the family at Anderson Chapel CME Church, 730 Martin Luther King Dr., Holly Springs; and Nov. 2, from 9-9:55 a.m. at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries, 565 Neely Ave., Holly Springs. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Rev. Doris Alexander will officiate and Rev. Dwight Jones will give the eulogy. Burial will be in New Hope CME Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in c/o of Cheryl Gillespie, 385 W. Woodward Ave., Holly Springs, MS 38635.

He leaves a daughter, Precious Cunningham of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Remon Brown of Collierville, Tenn., Reggie Richmond of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Cheryl Gillespie of Holly Springs, Dorothy Robinson of Memphis; two brothers, Fred Cunningham Jr. of Holly Springs, Rev. Dwight Jones of Senatobia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
