Juanita Young Thomas

Virginia Juanita Young Thomas, 81, of Holly Springs, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving children on December 29, 2022. She was born on May 31, 1941, in Abbeville, to W. T. Young and Vera Mae Kesler Young. Mrs. Thomas was a founder and co-owner of the Holly Springs Funeral Home with her husband, Charles Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas was well known for her musical gifts and talents, and was also an accomplished artist. Music, and the love for her Lord, centered her life and she often said that her heart was full of song, which she happily shared with others as her witness and testimony to her faith. Her love for her family was her main focus, second only to her faith in God. She was loved and admired by all as a peaceful, gentle, and calm soul in a sometimes grief-stricken world. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Charles Thomas, and they were inseparable for over 62 years while raising their family and operating the day-to-day routines of their businesses.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her three sons, Chuck (Sue), Barry (Karen), and Kevin (Donna) Thomas; and her daughter, Janna Thomas Stanton (Sonny), all of Holly Springs. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Trey Thomas (Mandy), Emmily Hurdle (Nathan), BJ Thomas (Emily), Kasie Teel (Colter), Paige McMullen (Justin), Brandi Byrd (Derek), LeAnn Stafford (Trip), Nick Stanton (Megan) and Brittany Connor (Derrick); twenty-one great grandchildren, and siblings Talmage Lloyd Young (Ann) of Eupora, Bonnie Young Smith (Jamie) of Batesville, and Sheila Jo Young Faulkenbery (David) of Eupora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wylie Thomas, her parents, and a sister, Cecelia Young Estock.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas were held on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. The Thomas Family received family and friends during a visitation at the Funeral Home on Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 3 until 6 p.m. Burial followed the service in Hill Crest Cemetery.
