Josephine Dillard Byers

Josephine Dillard Byers, 83, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 4, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch. The widow of Johnnie Byers, she was a member of Bell Grove MB Church and a member of the church's mother board. She was a retired dietician at Rust College.

Visitation will be held Oct. 12, from 12-6 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home; and Oct. 13, from 2-2:55 p.m. at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Rev. Terrance Pittman will officiate. Burial will be in Bell Grove MB Church Cemetery in Chulahoma.

She leaves four daughters, Georgia King of Holly Springs, Bernice Walton of Memphis, Tenn., Sheryl Elaine Pegues of Holly Springs, Gwendolyn D. Haten of New Orleans, La.; five sons, Charles E. Byers, Bernie Byers, Sylvester Byers, Bernard Byers, all of Holly Springs, Jerry Byers of Jesup, Ga.; two sisters, Sally Davis of Sardis, Susie Davis of Chulahoma; 63 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Byers Jr.
