John Roderick McDermott

John Roderick McDermott, 85, of Byhalia, Miss., departed this life on February 4, 2020, in Memphis, Tenn. He was born on July 4, 1934, to John R. Sr. and Hadie Curd McDermott. John was a lifelong farmer and Korean War veteran. He loved going to church and was a member of Carey Chapel Baptist Church in Red Banks, Miss. He loved tractors, riding cutting horses and showing miniature horses. He loved his grandbabies and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Carol O'Roark McDermott; his parents and one brother, Price McDermott.

John is survived by one son, Frank R. McDermott (Lisa) of Byhalia, Miss.; one daughter, Lea Shannon Conway (James) of Byhalia, Miss.; five grandchildren, Amber, Cayce, LeAnn, Parker and Price; four great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Cooper, Finley and Avery.

A memorial service was held Sunday, February 9, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Carey Chapel Baptist Church, 170 Carey Chapel Road, Red Banks, Miss. 38661.

Funeral service was held Monday, February 10, 2020, at 12 p.m. at Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree, Ark..

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, Tenn., 38105

Arrangements were under the care of Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree, Arkansas.
