John Lee Taylor
John Lee Taylor, 70, of Byhalia, died Aug. 9, 2017, at his home. He was a member of Waterford Masonic Lodge No. 450, the Marshall County Election Commissioner, District 4, Soil and Water Conservation District, Mississippi bail bondsman. A farmer, he was retired principal for Tate County Schools and Independence High School. He was a former referee for basketball and baseball, a former football, baseball, basketball and track coach at Independence High School.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Chulahoma MB Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Tony Taylor officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Naomi Thomas Taylor; two children, Rev. Tony Taylor, Chere Taylor, both of Olive Branch; two sisters, Marjean Myatt of Holly Springs, Rubye Poole of Arlington, Tenn.; four brothers, Charlie Taylor Jr. of Holly Springs, Otha Taylor of Olive Branch, Rev. George Taylor of West Point, Alvin Taylor of Holly Springs; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Taylor.
