John David Suggs Sr.

John David Suggs Sr., the second of two children of the late Alcue Suggs and Lucille Benson Suggs Dunn, was born on April 13, 1943, in Marshall County, Miss. He found Christ at an early age and was a member of Chulahoma MB Church.

John graduated from Galena Elementary School and attended Byhalia High School in Marshall County. He worked in the construction field.

In the mid-60s, John united in holy matrimony to Evelyn Faye Dean. To this union Jeffery Suggs, Gregory Suggs and John David Suggs Jr. were born.

John passed away on March 30, 2021, in his home surrounded by loved ones in Memphis, Tenn.

Graveside services were held on April 6, 2021 at Bell Grove MB Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rev. Marvin Lucas officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Jeffery Suggs, Gregory Suggs (Carleda), John David Suggs Jr.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Franklin Suggs (Gloria), Samuel Suggs, James Dunn, Jeanus Dunn Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves a special friend, Catherine Haywood and family, Tommy Guy, Nicole Wells, Sandra Haywood, Maurice Haywood, Shounteil Monton (Terry), Shoun Haywood and Katrina King to cherish his memory. And also, Scottie Haywood who preceded him in death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcue Suggs and Lucille Benson Suggs Dunn; two brothers, Wilbur Dunn and Byron Dunn; one sister, Essie Lee Suggs; and a greatgranddaughter, Natalia Talley.
