Jimmy “Brooks” Brownlee

Jimmy “Brooks” Brownlee, 55, a man of great character, wisdom and integrity, was received in the arms of our Lord on June 7, 2018. Brooks was a man you could count on with a heart for children. Above all else, he was a man who lived to please and serve God by teaching the Word of God, singing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

After graduating from Southaven High School, he fulfilled his dream of attending the University of Mississippi and graduating from Mid-South Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and the University of Memphis with a Master’s degree in Counseling. As a result of his passion for the outdoors, hunting and vision for farming, he founded Brownlee Farms where he served his community with his well-known strawberries and pumpkin patch. More importantly, he wanted to be remembered as a bond-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, faithful husband, caring father and loyal friend. He raised his children by example and was a rock for all who knew him.

Brooks was an ordained minister and participated in mission trips to Africa. While continuing to farm full-time, he most recently served as the Interim Pastor of Red Banks Baptist Church and was currently serving as the Worship Pastor.

Brooks was preceded in death by his father, Ethan Brownlee Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cristy Smith Brownlee; son, Benjamin Brooks Brownlee; daughter, Isabella Grace Brownlee; mother, Annette Brownlee; sister, Renee Kill (Kyle); brother, Johnny Brownlee (Kathy); sister-in-law, Penny Nicar; nieces, Abigail Nicar, Emily Brownlee, and Faith Kill; and a nephew, Kaleb Kill.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on  June 11 at Red Banks Baptist Church with burial in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Etta.

The family requests that all memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Red Banks Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.BrantleyFunerals.com.
