Jerry Wayne Sanford, 51, of Ashland, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Born Tuesday, November 19, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of the late Jerry Wayne Sanford of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Mary Jo Howell of Saulsbury, Tenn.

In addition to his mother, Jerry leaves behind one son, Mick Sanford of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Sandra Newkirk of Saulsbury, Tenn.; David Gettings of Calif.; Dean Britt of Moscow, Tenn.; Holli Sanford Moore of Union City, Tenn.

Jerry was employed by Autoplace Inc. in Holly Springs, and served as owner-operator of A Kut Above Tree Ser vice.

Jerry was by definition a free spirit, referring to himself as "Sailah Jerry!" He created his own outdoor oasis where he would spend much of his time fishing, boating and restoring cars. He had a special passion for rescue animals that he would adopt and rehabilitate. He connected with his animals on a deep level and was known for spending hours nurturing them back to health. Jerry was gifted with the love of music. He enjoyed sharing his music with family and friends and posted his creations for all to enjoy. And lastly, we will remember "Fish and Liquor," his personal cooking show where he was guaranteed to serve up an extra helping of his own special humor!

Jerry will be missed by all who loved him. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date when it is safe to do so.
