Jennie Simmons Washington

Jennie Simmons Washington, 89, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 17, 2019. The widow of Joseph Washington Jr., she was a member of Hopewell No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 21 at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries. Elder Shelby C. Washington Sr. officiated. Burial was in Hopewell No. 2 MB Church Cemetery. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two sons, Albert Washington of Oakland, Tenn., Grant Isom (Isola) of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Shirley Grigsby-Roe and Margaret Griffin (James) of Lamar; 53 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Tom Dallas Washington, Roy Lee Washington, Chester B. Washington; and a sister, Callie Theresa Crumb.
