James Robert Mayer

James Robert Mayer, 91, of Red Banks, died April 12, 2023, at the State Veteran's Home in Oxford. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of Red Banks Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was a church deacon.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 14 at Red Banks Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his sons, Jimmy Mayer (Margie) of Red Banks, Ricky Mayer (Teresa) of Olive Branch, Robby Mayer (Claudette) of Holly Springs; daughters, Sherry Combs (Dwayne) of Water Valley, Linda Anderson (David) of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Mayer; a brother, Benny Mayer; and sister, Ruth Gurley.
