James River Mitchell

James River Mitchell, 81, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Oct. 21, 2019, at Symphony of Orchard Valley Nursing Home. The widower of Rosetta Mitchell, he was a member of Mt. Peel Missionary Baptist Church in Laws Hill and later became a member of Porter's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Vicksburg where he served on the Usher Board. He worked at Thor Power Tool and Caterpillar in Aurora.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 at New Community Baptist Church in Aurora. Bishop Henry Mitchell officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. James Funeral Home of Aurora was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his children, Bertha (Terry) Finley, Annie Mae Mitchell, Tricia (Jerry) Mitchell, Ricky (Patricia) Mitchell, Mary Watson, James (Danica) Mitchell, Karen Alexander, Marie Winfrey; stepdaughters, Angela (Wilton) Pryor, Audrey (Zadie) Martin, Desirray Jenkins, Suzette Jihaad; siblings, Frances Jeffries, Vera Jeffries, Steptoria Finner, Francine Dean, Apostle Susie Mitchell, Jewel Thompson, Mary Bernard, Johnny (Irma) Mitchell, Willis (Helen) Mitchell Jr., Morris Mitchell, and Bishop Henry (Learline) Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Menard Pryor and Eddie Mitchell; two sisters, Mae Sue Mitchell and Brenda Mitchell; and a great-grandson, Emmanuel Lopez III.
