James Henry Preston

James Henry Preston, 73, of Lamar, died May 10, 2017, at his home. He was a member of Hebron MB Church in Lamar and attended New Life Christian Center in Ashland. He was a former member of a male chorus and church choir. He retired in 2010 from W.M. Barr, Co. in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 13 at Miracle Temple Salt & Light Ministries in Lamar, with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Ronnie Franklin officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Gloria J. Preston; a daughter, Tabitha Golden of Southaven; five sons, James A. Preston of Ashland, Silas T. Preston of New Albany, Dexter S. Preston of Lamar, Corey A. Preston of Southaven, Norris C. Preston of Memphis; three sisters, Pearlie Mae Washington of Lamar, Evelyn Brown of Detroit, Mich., Hazel Stigger of Olive Branch; two brothers, Cedric Preston of Lamar, Brian Ayers of Southaven; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Dexter Preston, Wendell Preston; a sister, Dorothy Mae Rucker; and two brothers, Hardy Preston and Derry Preston.
