James Ellis Street

James Ellis Street, 80, of Horn Lake, formerly of Byhalia, died June 9, 2019, in Byhalia. He was a member of Union Valley MB Church where he served as a deacon, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Gospel Travelers. He was a truck driver for McGhee Trucking in Southaven.

Visitation will be June 21 from 1-5 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home and 6-8 p.m. at New Mt. Gillian MB Church, 774 Stonewall Road, Byhalia, and also from 11-11:55 a.m. on June 22. Services will be at 12 noon. Pastor Joe Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in Union Valley MB Church Cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Essie Marshall Street; seven daughters, Judy Street, Mary J. (Charles) Pope, Diane Tyson, Charlotte Street, Brenda Street, Tanya Street, all of Byhalia, Petra (Simmie Jr.) Jones of Southaven; four sons, Jerome Street of Aurora, Ill., Bernard Echols of Byhalia, Rodney Douglass of Detroit, Mich., Loricus Earl Street of Southaven; six sisters, Ollie (Nathaniel) Holloway of Holly Springs, Beauty (Robert) Tharpe of Camden, Tenn., Mary Whitley of Milan, Tenn., Georgia Tuggles, Rose Coburn, Dorothy (Gary) Schoonover, all of Bradford, Tenn.; 35 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Street; two granddaughters, four sisters and four brothers.
